List of Aesthetic Procedures And Cosmetic Surgery
Aesthetic procedures are growing in popularity worldwide. As the baby boomers enter their golden years, the current societal bias for aesthetic beauty and the working force seeking to look younger and brighter for job protection in an economic downturn, aesthetic procedures become increasingly important for rejuvenation, beauty and self confidence.
Here is a list of common aesthetic procedures performed by a licensed doctor. The most common aesthetic procedures performed in 2008were Botox injections, dermal fillers, chemical peels, and laser therapy.

NON SURGICAL
- Botox- Botox is a purified botulism toxin. It acts to paralyze those muscles that cause frown lines and wrinkles, so decreasing the appearance of those lines. Other aesthetic uses include use for excessive sweating.
- Chemical Peels- effective method of improving the appearance of the skin. Chemical peels remove the topmost layer of dull, dead skin and gives your face a rejuvenated look by improving discoloured areas, spots and fine wrinkles. A variety of active ingredients can be used in each peel for different target problems for best possible results.
- Cosmoderm/ cosmoplast- Using lab grown human collagen in injections to smoothen lines and wrinkles.
- Dermal fillers- Synthetic forms of hyaluronic acid and collagen helps to fill out creases and lines. The most common aesthetic uses are to plump up lips, fill up the nasolabial folds (the aging lines joining the nose and the mouth), crows feet, undereye wrinkles and drooping mouth corners. Examples are Restylane and Juvederm.
- APTOS- non surgical facelift using monofilament threads.
- Laser therapy- used for a wide range of medical indications, it can be used for conditions like skin resurfacing and acne scars
- Mesotherapy
- Microdermabrasion- Exfoilation of the skin using wands, and an alternative to chemical peels and laser treatments.
- Nose job (non surgical)- Filler substances are injected into the nose to smoothen out bumps, dents, septal deviation and to lift the nose tip.
- Radiesse- Another injectable filler, except it contains calcium hydroxyapetite.
- Sclerotherapy- Injection of medication into fine spidery veins to make them disappear.
- Smart Lipo- This procedure uses a laser to perform lipo’suction’ to melt away the fat under the skin without having to actually undergo surgery.
- Thermage- A non invasive way of skin rejuvenation using radiofrequency waves.
