Grow Lashes Grow! Guide To Eyelash Stimulators

Unlike Latisse, which is a prescription only drug, there are other lash stimulating products on the market.
Lash stimulators are products which aim to lengthen and thicken your lashes. These products are unlike mascara which temporarily lengthen and thicken and colour your eye lashes for the duration they are on. Lash stimulators are applied to the base of your lashes like a liquid eyeliner and aim to promote the growth of the eyelashes, and results appear on average after four to six weeks of application.
Lash stimulators previously contained an active ingredient bimatoprost, a type of prostaglandin. However, with the patent infringement lawsuit after Allergan’s Latisse came along, and the concern over the safety profile of bimatoprost use without prescription (the FDA does not regulate the use or concentration of active ingredients in over the counter products), the other lash stimulators had to be reformulated. These reformulated lash stimulators now do not contain bimatoprost. They have instead come up with alternative active ingredients such as peptides and herbal extracts in their lash stimulating products. These also claim to work by stimulating the eyelash hair follicle, resulting in lash growth.

Jan Marini’s Marini Lash
Jan Marini was the pioneer in the lash enhanceing industry. The Marini Lash used to contain prostaglandins, but now has been reformulated to contain a propriety peptide blend to give your lashes the oomph. ($160)
RevitaLash
Developed initially by an ophthalmologist Michael Brinkenhoff MD, Revitalash is a popular product used by many celebrities including Courtney Cox. The doctor dedicated this lash enhancer to his wife, who had lost all her eyelashes from chemotherapy. The company generously donates a portion of their sales to breast cnacer foundations. ($150)
Peter Thomas Roth
Lashes To Die For is a vitamin rich, aloe vera containing creamy solution, complete with the company’s propriety patent pending lash formulation. ($125)
B Kamins
B Kamins Eyelash Fortifier is enriched with peptides, vitamins and natural plant extracts, and helps to nourish and condition the lashes, resulting in longer thicker lashes. ($90)
Lash Food
LashFood uses a natural liquid blend of biotin and arginine, and iris extract to promote the natural growth of healthy lashes. ($129)
DermaQuest Dermalash and Dermalash Colors
The Dermalash contains a peptide formula that encourages follicle stimulation and eyelash growth. It also advertises to be used on the eyebrow. The company has also come up with Dermalash Colors which can be worn like an eyeliner in the day. Available in black, cocoa, indigo and plum colors. ($95)
Neova Advanced Essential Lash
Essential Lash contains a paraben free, patented combination of copper and amino acids to nourish the eyelash. They did their own study of the product, and their results showed a 96% improvement in lash length after using their product.
Talika’s Lipocilis
The Lipocilis is a plant extract based gel used twice a day and promises longer lovlier lashes in 28days. Made up of nettle, horse chestnut extract, allantoin, soy lecithin, whitch hazel St John’s Wort and apple extracts, it is suitible for even the most sensitive of eyes. Its own studies conducted in France found the users reaching 88% of their maximum eyelash length in just 3weeks of usage!

I have been extremely satisfied with Revitalash! I’ve used it now for 5 months, after a couple of friends tried it and I saw what it did to their lashes. Amazing… It’s reasonably priced, too! I did research on the company and they have a great story. The Owner is an eye doctor who developed this product for his wife, suffering from cancer. She lost her hair from chemo!
